Lutsen Mountains

Lutsen is where it's at.

With a large number of runs, huge amount of terrain, and constant developments and improvements, Lutsen Mountains towers far above most other Midwest ski destinations in prowess.

I've skied Lutsen for many days and taken over a half dozen trips to this resort and I never find myself bored with the terrain and what it has to offer. Even around holidays and special events, Lutsen's plentiful terrain and lift service nearly guarantee relatively short lift lines and clean slopes. One of their most recent developments is that of their brand new terrain parks (of which I will try my best to post an array of pictures of). With an advanced, intermediate, and beginner/progression park, they have completely "upped their game" when it comes to freestyle and diversity in skiing and snowboarding.

Out of all the ski resorts in the Midwest, Lutsen feels most like a true western resort. It features 4 distinct "mountains," plenty of vertical drop (for the midwest), lots of lifts, several different chalets and other amenities, and wide-open runs. As for challenging features, there are several steep runs, great gladed skiing, cliff drops, mogul runs, and an excellent terrain park.
