Description

Founded in 1934, Hanson Hills was the first ski resort to open in Michigan and the second to open in the Midwest.
Hanson Hills has a vertical drop of only 225 vertical feet, but they still have 11 runs and 4 lifts, with the longest run measuring 2,640 feet. 50% of the 125 skiable acres are rated for beginners and 50% for intermediates. 75% of that terrain has to be covered by snowmaking, as Hanson Hills only receives 60 inches of natural snow per year on average.
This locals ski hill also caters to freestyle snowboarding and skiing with a terrain park and half pipe, the less aggressive families with a snow tubing hill, and the more aerobic types with 35 kilometers of cross country ski trails.
