Vail is a massive ski resort with three terrain parks, seven bowls, and thousands of acres of skiable terrain. The resort boasts that even on a busy day there's usually an average of about 4 skiers per acre!

Vail's peak elevation is 11,570 feet which leaves a 3,450 foot vertical drop. The front side alone covers 1,627 acres while the back bowls cover another 3,000 acres. The resort has 193 runs of which 18% are rated beginner, 29% are intermediate, and 53% are advanced/expert. The longest run, Riva Ridge, is 4 miles long!

Vail gets about 300 days of sunshine a year yet somehow they still get an average of almost 350 inches of snow per year.

One of my favorites in Colorado! The back bowls are amazing and despite their popularity, it's usually easy to find wide open skiing in places. It's hard to find another resort with so many skiable acres - most will need several days to ski it all at Vail.
