Vail is a massive ski resort with three terrain parks, seven bowls, and thousands of acres of skiable terrain. The resort boasts that even on a busy day there's usually an average of about 4 skiers per acre!
Vail's peak elevation is 11,570 feet which leaves a 3,450 foot vertical drop. The front side alone covers 1,627 acres while the back bowls cover another 3,000 acres. The resort has 193 runs of which 18% are rated beginner, 29% are intermediate, and 53% are advanced/expert. The longest run, Riva Ridge, is 4 miles long!
Vail gets about 300 days of sunshine a year yet somehow they still get an average of almost 350 inches of snow per year.
