Our whole family enjoyed Crested Butte. I had heard it would be colder than other ski resorts in Colorado and more windy, which was true. However, this was primarily an issue at the top of the mountain, particularly when skiing in the bowls. This is a particularly great mountain for advanced beginners and for advanced/ expert skiers. There were more interesting green runs than I have ever experienced at a resort and many, many black diamond and double black runs. Several areas of the mountain are devoted entirely to extreme terrain. However, I primarily ski blue runs and I found plenty of variety at Crested Butte myself. The terrain parks were rated as "between fair and good" by my boys who have skied many Colorado terrain parks. I enjoyed the many amenities at Crested Butte-- large, fast lifts that are easy to load (with even a map on the bar when it is lowered), very helpful staff members, and nice restaurants/warming huts all over the mountain. Many of the accommodations are pricey, but the large hotels are extremely nice and located right next to the lifts and offer such creature comforts as storing your skis for you within steps of the lifts. We had a very enjoyable stay at Crested Butte overall.
